Caravan Reportback in Ashland Oregon, Wednesday, October 28
2015 CUBA CARAVAN UNWRAPPED
Rev. Paula Sohl and Joanne Navickas of Ashland will be reporting back on their July 2015 trip to Cuba with IFCO/Pastors for Peace
on Wednesday, October 28 at 7 pm at the First Congregational United Church of Christ at 717 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, Oregon.
They were members of a Caravan from all parts of the US which spent ten days in Cuba, learning firsthand about the concerns and the daily lives of the Cuban people. The program, to be held in the Common Room of the church, will include a showing of their photos and short videos, documenting their time in Havana and also in the cities of Trinidad and Sancti Spiritus in central Cuba. They attended the graduation ceremony at the Latin American School of Medicine, where students from more than a hundred nations, including the US, are receiving a complete medical education preparing them to serve areas of their home countries which lack sufficient doctors.
This was the 26th Caravan to Cuba organized by Pastors for Peace, a project of support and solidarity with the people of Cuba.
These journeys are conscious acts of civil disobedience, challenging the US government’s economic blockade of Cuba, and also the travel ban which still limits US citizens’ ability to travel freely to Cuba.
All are welcome to attend. For information, call 541-482-8915, or see www.pastorsforpeace.org.
